Floris van Elderen is a drummer based in Amsterdam. He plays diverse musical genres varying from jazz, pop and rock to world music.

Floris van Elderen was born in the Netherlands in 1990. He started playing drums at the age of 16. After several years of lessons, while finishing a bachelor degree of Biology, he decided to change the direction of his profession towards music. In 2014 Floris got accepted to the Conservatory of Amsterdam where he is still studying at the moment, following lessons from Martijn Vink, Lucas van Merwijk, Marcel Serierse, Gerhard Jeltes and Haye Jellema.

Floris developed a broad musical interest while studying, mainly focused on jazz, pop, rock and latin. Furthermore, he acquired knowledge of multiple musical traditions, originating from Brazil, Cuba, Africa, India and the Middle East. At the moment he is performing in different groups, among others: the Adrien Losco Quartet (bebop / hardbop), the Coolhaven quintet (Modern Jazz), Little Olifant (Spheric Jazz), New Moluccan Guitars (Moluccan Jazz) and the band of Gildor van Beers (Singer - Songwriter).
